Jangchub Sempa Gyamtso: Short Biography
Jangchub has over 36 years of practise in the Buddhist traditions, combining them with his knowledge of counselling and psychotherapy. Born and brought up in New Zealand, his parents were of Scottish descent.  His father devoted his life to community service in the Methodist Church as a minister.  While studying social anthropology at Auckland University Jangchub began meditation and participated in research on the physiological benefits of meditation. During this time he also studied other mystical traditions such as Qabala and hatha yoga.

In 1975, he met his life-long teacher, Namgyal Rinpoché and immediately began training as a Dharma teacher, with an emphasis on integrating traditional Buddha Dharma with western inner development approaches.  Since then he has taught in various study & retreat centres in New Zealand, Australia, UK, France & Brazil. He has also been greatly blessed in his meetings with other extraordinary teachers such as H.H. Karmapa, H.H. Sakya Trizin, Ven. Sayadaw U Thila Wunta, H.E. Chogye Trichen Rinpoché & Thich Nhat Hanh.

Jangchub teaches in an open, relaxed way that is direct and accessible to all people of any background.  He encourages people to experience for themselves the true nature of their minds, thus liberating a profound flow of peace and compassion.
